Carl Jenkinson Gets A Little Emotional In Post-Match Interview After Long-Awaited Comeback

Carl Jenkinson recaps an emotional night for him…

Arsenal full-back Carl Jenkinson made his long-awaited return after starting his first game in red and white for over two years in our 2-0 win against Reading.

Arsene Wenger rung the changes ahead of our EFL Cup tie, with Alex Iwobi the only survivor from our goalless draw at the weekend against Middlesbrough.

Jenkinson came in at right-back after a gruelling process recovering from a cruciate ligament injury and produced an accomplished display.

Asked by a Junior Gunner how it felt to finally put on an Arsenal shirt, Jenkinson replied: “It felt brilliant.

“It’s been a long time coming; of course, I was on loan for a couple of years and that was good for me.

“Days and nights like tonight make it all worthwhile,” Jenkinson concluded.

We certainly lack adequate cover for Hector Bellerin and have done for the pas few seasons with Mathieu Debuchy’s troubles affecting the balance of the squad.

Jenkinson may never become as reliable and gifted as the Spaniard, but he can almost certainly do a job when called upon.
