Despite coming back from 2-0 down at Stamford Bridge to level the game at half-time, a rather poor second-half performance meant we’ve now lost our first two league games under Unai Emery.

Chelsea started the brightest and all the flaws in our Manchester City display were laid bare, we couldn’t even conduct the basics.

Our back line pushed up naively high-up and were caught out on both goals, first by Pedro and then by Alvaro Morata who had the freedom of the half.

However, unlike the game last week, we had clear-cut chances to hurt Chelsea too with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan missing gaping goals.

We soon got our act together as the aformentioned Armenian slammed home a wonderful effort from 20-yards out to get us back into the encounter.

Moments later, he laid the ball on for Alex Iwobi after a sensational passing move which started at the feet of Petr Cech – Emery’s philosphy in full effect.

Having said that, I’m not sure what was said at half-time but we came out looking to hold a point from the off, camped outside our box for most of the 45 minutes.

It didn’t have the desire affect with Michael Alonso grabbing the winner late on after some slack defending. As per usual, there’s both negatives and positives for Emery to focus on, but we’re desperately in need of a win to settle the players.
