BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton decided to take aim at former Arsenal defender Martin Keown for his continuous criticism of Mesut Ozil ahead of our clash at Southampton.

Ozil has arguably carried the team in recent weeks with his goals and assists, and Sutton believes that his main critics have been rather silent.

Over the course of Ozil’s five years with us, it’s become apparent that his lows will be highlighted while his wonderful displays are barely spoken about in the mainstream press.

The 29-year-old has been on a good run of form since single-handedly taking Spurs apart last month, and Ozil was one of a few players who came out of the Man United game in a good light.

Having said that, Sutton isn’t comfortable with the silence among certain quarters.

“He’s got more assists than any other player since he came into the Premier League.

“Arsenal knew what they were buying, I think he’s been singled out a lot for unfair criticism because there are 11 players who go out every week for Arsenal.”

We now face back-to-back away games in the coming days at Southampton and West Ham which will surely have a huge effect on our top four hopes.

The defeat at Old Trafford means that out away form now needs to drastically improve.
