Craig Burley wants expectations raised at Arsenal…
Craig Burley, a man who’s made a punditry career off the back of ridiculing Arsenal, believes the Gunners shouldn’t be celebrating a draw at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal defied all odds by taking a point at the home of the champions with many predicting another humiliating defeat for us.
Not only were we in the game, we really should’ve left it with all three points with Alexandre Lacazette missing the best chance of the afternoon.
Aaron Ramsey, the man of the match, bundled his way through Chelsea backline and clipped the ball against the post. With Thibaut Courtois beaten, Lacazette couldn’t divert the ball home with the goal gaping.
While he accepts that Arsenal played well, Burley wants expectations raised in north London.
“What I should say is, as good as it was at Chelsea at 0-0, Arsenal should rise above thinking that’s the best thing since sliced bread,” Burley told ESPN FC.
“They should be better than that.
“The other side of that is I did think they played well and I thought they looked a lot more solid.”
We limited Chelsea to few chances throughout the game, and we could’ve gone back with all three points had we been more convincing in the final third.
Our forward line seemed very timid with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, though the star duo’s absence may have aided us defensively.
