Craig Burley: Arsene Wenger’s New Deal Is A Display Of His Arrogance

By The Editor
on 5th June 2017

Craig Burley not a fan of Wenger’s new contract…

One of Arsene Wenger’s biggest critics Craig Burley feels the Arsenal boss’ latest contract extension prove that he’s an arrogant individual who’s interested in his own needs.

Wenger, despite the mass calls for him to walk at the end of his current, the boss felt he was still the right man to lead the club and face little resistance from the board.

Majority owner Stan Kroenke also agreed with Wenger before flying back to his hideout in St Louis, where he’ll reside until the AGM in October.

For Burley, Arsenal fans have been spineless in their protests and he feels we’ve got the manager we deserve.

“This is an arrogant manager who stumbles from one season to the next domestically,” Burley said.

“Let’s not bother about the league these days because they were 18 points off the top in fifth. You’ve got the board who’re weak. And you’ve got the fans, who’re sitting there at the Emirates and most of them are pretty spineless.”

Burley continues to pedal the narrative of us having “spineless” fans, but I’m not sure what he expects fans to do beyond what we’ve already seen.

When fans protest they’re labelled as disrespectful and embarrassing, and when we attempt to show some class, we’re called “spineless”.

Arsenal fans are placed in a predicament alien to many fans worldwide: we have a legendary manager in charge who’s passed his time yet won’t depart and hasn’t got any credible figure in his immediate circle capable of telling him the honest truth.
