Sami Mokbel has an interesting take on Wenger’s future…
Daily Mail reporter Sami Mokbel has revealed that according to his sources, Arsene Wenger will sign a two-year extension to his current deal before the end of the season.
Sami, who follows Arsenal for the Daily Mail, is one of the most reliable when it comes to breaking stories about the club so his latest update is to be taken seriously.
Speaking at the Arsenal AGM on Monday to BBC Sport’s David Ornstein, Mokbel believes that Wenger will extend his 20-year stay at the club.
“From the information that I have at my disposal, we will be seeing Arsene Wenger signing a new contract before the end of the season,” the reliable journalist revealed.
“Probably a two-year deal and anything after that they will look at it again.”
Many may have thought that Wenger would step aside at the end of this campaign regardless of its outcome, but a new deal will certainly turn the pressure back on the boss.
He has reiterated on a number of occasions that this season will determine if he signs a new deal, something I just can’t see happening if we have the usual disastrous end to a season.
