AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has responded to links this week claiming that he’s the number one target to succeed Arsene Wenger if the Frenchman quits this summer.
The report, which emanated from The Sun, stated that the hierarchy at the Emirates Stadium have taken a liking to Howe and his philosophy suits perfectly with the club’s ethos.
However, his relative inexperience means that Arsene Wenger would have to take up a position above him, according to The Sun’s theory.
“Who knows what’s going to happen in six months, a year, two years, five years, 10 years,” Howe told SkySportsNewsHQ.
“There’s no way of predicting it (his future).”
Howe is undoubtedly a promising coach, but if this thought-process is taking place among the higher powers at Arsenal, then it’s suicidally similar to Manchester United’s approach post-Sir Alex Ferguson.
We need a big character to take this club forward after Wenger’s gone – and his departure must be total.
