Former Arsenal star Edu looks set to reject a potential technical director role at the Emirates…
Former Arsenal midfielder looks set to reject the club’s approach as we look to hire a technical director in favour of fulfilling his role as a director for the Brazilian national team, Globo reports.
Reports emerged on Wednesday that Arsenal were looking to add the Brazilian to our hierarchy as part of the restructuring which continues to take place at the club.
Ever since Raul Sanllehi was promoted to ‘head of football’ following the departure of Ivan Gazidis, it was reported that the Spaniard was keen to appoint a technical director to fulfil his previous role at the club.
Those rumours seem to have infuriated head of recruitment Sven Mislintat and it now seems inevitable that the former Dortmund man will leave the club.
According to Globo, Edu is committed to the project with the Brazilian FA and wants to see out his contract which ends following the World Cup in 2022.
The five-time world champions had a disappointing time in Russia, and there are out to make amends in the Copa America and in Qatar.
It leaves us having to look elsewhere for a technical director, a position the club seemingly feels is of paramount importance moving forward.
It will be interesting to see who’s approached next.
