Ben Fogle lays blame on Arsenal fans for Stan Kroenke’s latest gaffe…
Environmentalist Ben Fogle has accused Arsenal fans of funding Stan Kroenke’s preposterous new venture which is a television channel dedicated to trophy hunting.
Kroenke plans to promote the killing of wild animals as a form a hobby, which has come under fierce criticism from all sections of society, including Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
The St Louis billionaire isn’t the most popular figure at Arsenal with many fans calling for him to sell up, and this latest ‘own goal’ has only strengthened those voices.
However, despite voicing our discontent on social media, Ben Fogle has pointed the finger squarely at the fans by claiming that their season ticket sales are contributing to the killing of innocent animals.
“The reality is, we’re talking about this channel that Stan Kroenke is advocating, supporting; all the Arsenal supporters, your money is going into supporting hunting, whether you like it or not,” he told Good Morning Britain.
“This is the bigger point here.”
While Fogle’s intentions may be sincere, I’m not sure he understands how the business of football works and that Arsenal and Kroenke are separate entities.
Yes, he’s our majority shareholder and this latest gaffe reflects badly on the club, but Arsenal fans are in no way responsible for Kroenke’s extra curricular activities.
He takes no dividends out of the club and so all the finances made from season ticket sales are immediately invested back into the club, mainly through wages and transfer fees.
That being said, his latest endeavour is sickening and we all hope this becomes the beginning of the end for Kroenke at Arsenal.
