Former Arsenal midfielder Edu is being eyed by the club as our new technical director as the upheaval behind the scenes continues long after Arsene Wenger’s departure, Sky Sports News reports.

Reports emerged on Tuesday that head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is set for a shock departure this month after growing frustrated with his role.

The former Dortmund chief has reportedly seen his transfer targets ignored with the head of football, Raul Sanllehi, preferring to go after players known to the individuals involved.

It explains the links to Denis Suarez of Barcelona and Ever Banega of Sevilla, both of whom have direct links to Sanllehi and Unai Emery.

Also, Sanllehi is reportedly keen on adding another director to fulfil the role he held while Ivan Gazidis and Mislintat isn’t entirely comfortable with that.

Edu held a director of football role at Corinthians, the club we signed him from in 2001 and where he eventually finished his playing career.

Since then, he took up a director position for the Brazilian national team where he aids his close friend Tite in all matters concerning the five-time world champions.

The former ‘Invincible’ is seemingly respected in his role and it will be interesting to see if the position at Arsenal entices him or if the lack of stability works against us.
