Gabriel Jesus looks set to rejoin the squad…

Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has provided an update on his fitness after struggling with a knee injury towards the end of last season.

Jesus was vocal in the spring that he struggled to play without pain in his knee, resulting in him losing his place up front to Kai Havertz.

Mikel Arteta played the problem down, indicating that Brazilan suffered a kick to the knee and just required a period of rest that would come at the end of the campaign.

The former Manchester City man had his minutes managed, starting just five Premier League games this calendar year.

Now, with a number of our players already in Marbella for a summer camp before starting pre-season, Jesus informed fans that he’s set to join his teammates after training in Brazil.

“A little bit of training in the last few days I was in Brazil,” the 27-year-old said on X.

“I want to thank Palmeiras for the space provided and for always caring for me. Eternally grateful.

“Time to go back and prepare in the best way for our season. Let’s go!”

After an injury-ravaged campaign in which he only managed to find the net on four occasions in the league, next season seems to be a make-or-break one for Jesus.

Jesus will have two years remaining on his contract next summer and with no imminent talk of extending that agreement, a decision on his future will have to be made soon.

While The Athletic reported earlier this summer that Arsenal would be willing to ‘listen to offers’ for the vice-captain, suitable offers are unlikely to arrive this window and Arteta will be hoping to get the best out of Jesus once again.
