Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville to an exception to his colleague Jamie Carragher’s calls for Arsene Wenger to walk which he made after our defeat to Crystal Palace last week.
The two were reunited on Monday Night Football as we defeated Middlesbrough at the Riverside stadium thanks to goals from Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
Neville was given a chance to voice his thoughts on Carragher’s epic rant on Arsenal, and he was rather disappointed in the Liverpool legend for openly calling for a manager to lose his job.
“We should always draw that line about asking for a change of manager,” Neville said about Carragher’s comments on the show.
“Arsene Wenger is suffering at the moment and his team is suffering like they never have before in his reign.
“To be only finishing sixth now after 20 years is an incredible compliment.”
Neville added that he’s all for questioning a manager’s tactical decisions, but feels like it would be against his values to call for them to be replaced.
While that’s an honourable viewpoint to hold, ridiculing those who are of the opinion that a manager is in a public job where their position should be called into question isn’t sensible.
The Man United legend has mocked Arsenal fans for their anti-Wenger protests in the past, despite the fact that they travel far and wide to follow their team and are entitled to such an opinion.
