Gunnerblog: Arsenal Suffered A “Champions League Hangover” Against Middlesbrough

Arsenal 0-0 Middlesbrough…
Gunnerblog published his ‘On the Whistle’ report from the Emirates Stadium following our goalless draw at home to Middlesbrough after what was a frustrating afternoon.
Aitor Karanka’s side were well-drilled and didn’t allow us to create much for most of the game, and James McNicholas puts it down to our Champions League tie against Ludogorets.
Wenger fielded a strong side against the Bulgarian side which included Santi Cazorla who picked up a knock and was subsequently ruled out of the game.
One wonders why Wenger decided to rest Granit Xhaka on Wednesday night despite the fact that the Swiss star was set to serve a three-match domestic ban.
Also, with referee John Moss demoted for this week’s league games following that awful decision, perhaps Wenger should’ve decided to appeal Xhaka’s suspension.
Check out Gunnerblog’s analysis of the game in the video above.
