Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey waxed lyrical on Bukayo Saka after the 20-year-old’s virtuoso performance against Watford took us back into the top-four, The Evening Standard reports.
Saka scored his eighth league goal of the campaign at Vicarage Road, while his assist for Martin Odegaard took his goal contributions tally to 13 for the season.
Following an emotional summer at the European Championships, many feared that Saka’s development may have become stunted this term.
That has not been the case with the Hale End graduate going from strength to strength, adding a genuine goal threat to his previously industrious play.
With just two years left on his contract once the season ends, Partey hopes he can line up alongside the England international for years to come.
“We all know what he is doing,” The 28-year-old was quoted as saying.
“He is one of the best young players in the world now.
“I think he is doing a great job. I hope he stays with us for a long time and does what he can, and tries to take this team far.”
While the team has been defensively solid in recent weeks, it was our devastating attack that allowed us to pick up three points against Roy Hodgson’s men.
Arteta lamented the team’s lack of control throughout the game, and Partey stated that our attacking verve came in handy at a tricky ground.
“I think we are mentally strong. We want to go game after game and this is what we are doing. I hope we continue with this form. We knew coming here it was not going to be easy. We tried to do our best and we tried to control the game.
“At the end, we were able to score three goals. It’s difficult here so we had to manage [the game] and try our best to get the three points. In the end that is what we did.”
