Hector Bellerin commits to Arsenal…
Arsenal star Hector Bellerin has given the biggest indication yet that he intends to stay at the Emirates Stadium for the foreseeable future after declaring that he’d one day like to captain the club.
Bellerin joined us from Barcelona at the age of 16 and his meteoric rise through the ranks has been nothing short of remarkable as he cements his place as the Premier League’s best right-back.
The 21-year-old was included in the PFA Team of the Year for the 2015/16 campaign and has given the hierarchy a major boost with his latest comments.
Asked if he’d one day like to captain the club as Arsene Wenger and Ivan Gazidis have suggested, Bellerin replied: “Of course.”
“I’d be really grateful and it would be my pleasure to be the captain of Arsenal.
“I love the club, I’ve been here for such a long time now and I believe it’s important for the club to have some young leaders.”
Bellerin has been heavily linked with a return to Barcelona while some claim Pep Guardiola wants to take him to Manchester City. Given that he’s got three years left on his contract, it doesn’t seem like our Spanish speedster is going anywhere anytime soon.
