Henrikh Mkhitaryan stresses the importance of keeping Ramsey…

Henrikh Mkhitaryan stressed the importance of keeping Aaron Ramsey at the club by labelling him a “symbol” for the club given his longevity and success.

Ramsey has been here for a decade and has won three FA Cups and three Community Shield, scoring in three of those games and etching his name into our history.

The 27-year-old is out of contract next summer and while there haven’t been fierce reportsĀ of an exit this window, one wonders what the club will do if Ramsey doesn’t extend before the window closes.

For Mkhitaryan, however, Ramsey must stay at the club as we look to buildĀ under a new head coach.

“He has been at this club for 10 years already and it seems he has become a symbol for this club,” the former Man United star told reporters.

“I will be very happy for him if he is going to sign a new contract because he is [part of the] history of Arsenal already and I hope he can become a legend.

“His work rate is high and everyone appreciates what he does on the pitch and off the pitch because he is a true professional.”

Ramsey and Mkhitaryan could be crucial components of Emery’s new-look side with both possessing the qualities the Spanish coach likes in his players.

Mkhitaryan is technically secure and his Dortmund upbringing means she’s comfortable attacking a defence with a sense of purpose and direction.

For Ramsey, he has the legs and energy to consistently repeat Emery’s desire to win the ball back from the opposition high up the pitch.
