Danny Welbeck has some kind words for Per Mertesacker…
Arsenal star Danny Welbeck is the latest player to take part in the ‘Arsenal Album’ series after making his comeback from yet another horrific injury.
After making a return from a 10-month layoff in February of last year with that infamous goal against Leicester City, Welbeck would once again experience another setback.
An innocuous tackle on Bacary Sagna at Manchester City in April put Welbeck back on the treatment table with yet another serious knee injury.
Once again, however, Welbeck has come back firing with the 26-year-old bagging a brace at Southampton in the FA Cup last month.
While Wenger and the medical staff take necessary precautions in terms of Welbeck’s gradual recovery, the England striker reminisces about his time in the treatment room with Mertesacker.
“Obviously we both had long-term knee injuries,” Welbeck told Arsenal Player.
“It’s difficult to put this guy into words, he’s one of the sickest (sic) guys on road, seriously.
“He just lifts the whole atmosphere within the dressing room and he helped me a lot.
“Even his playlist is banging to be fair, it’s mad because you walk in the changing room and he’s there singing Drake and Future.”
Here’s to the Mertesacker and Welbeck bromance living in.
