Danny Welbeck is set for another spell on the sidelines after Arsene Wenger described the groin injury he suffered at Chelsea as “quite severe”.

Wenger claimed Welbeck was struggling to move after the game, with his injury coming after a collision with David Luiz midway through the second half.

Welbeck has started every league game this season, scoring three goals and providing a solid base for the forward line to build from in this relatively new 3-4-3 system.

The 27-year-old produced another solid display at Stamford Bridge, and his potential injury lay-off is a big blow.

“It’s a groin problem,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.

“It looks quite severe because he couldn’t move when he came off the pitch.

“It’s too early (diagnosis), we need to wait 48 hours to know how big it is.”

Focus now turns to who’ll replace Welbeck, with Arsene Wenger reluctant to partner Mesut Ozil and Alexis with Lacazette in a front three.

However, with a run of winnable games coming up in the Premier League, perhaps Wenger will be more comfortable going with a formidable attack to kill off the opponents.

Our next two fixtures see West Bromwich Albion and newly promoted Brighton & Hove Albion visit the Emirates before another international break.
