Ian Wright is ‘Kroenke out’…

Arsenal hero Ian Wright has called for Stan Kroenke to sell up after it emerged that our second highest shareholder Alisher Usmanov had made a $1.3bn offer for his share of the club.

Kroenke currently owns 67% of the club while Usmanov holds a 30% share, with the two at odds since their introduction to the club in 2007.

The Uzbek-born multi-billionaire hasn’t remained quiet during his time at Arsenal despite the board attempting to silence him.

Usmanov hasn’t been offered a seat on the board and has no influence over Arsenal, which makes this potential transaction very unlikely.

However, Wrighty believes fans are justified to feel excited by the potential of Usmanov controlling the club.

“He has put in the bid and it is great news,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“Stan Kroenke sees it as another asset.

“If you look at all his other franchises, they are doing the same. They are mediocre, with poor attendances and aren’t achieving anything as a team.”

The Arsenal legend went on to state that Usmanov’s ownership could bring a divided fanbase together after what’s been a turbulent season at the club.

It’s quite easy to assume that this won’t result in Usmanov taking over, though the timing of such an offer is pertinent given that Kroenke faces is most testing few weeks.

Arsene Wenger is out of contract and offering him a new deal would confirm many’s thoughts that Arsenal are not in the business of competing for trophies.
