Ian Wright Not Satisfied With Arsenal’s Transfer Window

Ian Wright feels there’s work to be done in the window for Arsenal…

Arsenal legend Ian Wright doesn’t believe that we have done enough in the transfer market to launch an assault on the Premier League title next season.

Sead Kolasniac, a Bosman signing from Schalke, and Alexandre Lacazette – for a club-record fee – remain our only additions this summer.

While both players are set to strengthen our starting XI, Wrighty feels other clubs have invested heavily in their squads which may create a slight gap.

We kick-off our Premier League campaign on Friday at home to Leicester City, and it’s unlikely that we’ll see any new arrivals before then.

“We haven’t signed the players that people are constantly talking about, who are going to lead Arsenal,” Wrighty told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“At some stage during the season they’re going to need those players and that is where the test is going to come.

“Now it’s Leicester, Stoke and Liverpool just to start and the pre-season hasn’t gone fantastically.”

When asked who his former club need to go for in order to add some leadership and power to the squad, he replied: “I would have definitely tried to get Van Dijk. I would be going in very strong.”

I think many fans would agree with his assessment of the current window which had started brightly but has since led many to panic about the club’s plans.

We finished 18 points behind champions Chelsea last season, and it’s hard to see how we’ve attempted to close that gap with our current dealings in the market.
