Ian Wright believes that Arsene Wenger is “lucky” to be at a club like Arsenal considering the run he’s on.
Wenger has come under enormous pressure over the past few months as our season has imploded. Arsenal fans have also exacerbated the situation with many fans calling for the Frenchman to walk.
He’s out of contract in June and, while Wrighty states that an entire shift is needed throughout the club, his thinly veiled assessment of Wenger was telling.
Very few of our former players are comfortable when discussing Wenger’s future, though Wrighty clearly feels that the Arsenal boss would have been sacked at another club.
“There’s loads of them that have got to go upstairs, starting with Kroenke,” Wrighty said on BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight.
“In respects of the manager, the way it’s going, he’s just fortunate it’s Arsenal that he’s at.”
Without uttering the words ‘Wenger Out’, Wrighty has made his feeling perfectly clear.
Calling for those above Wenger to depart is a viable a solution, but it still doesn’t mask the deficiencies we consistently see from the team.
As far as any of are aware, Kroenke has never ever blocked a signing, picked a certain player above Wenger’s head, or interfered with team business at any point.
The Arsenal board can only realistically be blamed for one major decision: the fact that they’re yet to hand Wenger his P45.
