Mikel Arteta continues to put the squad through their paces during a warm-weather training camp in Dubai as the team attempts to put a disastrous January behind them.

The first month of the new year saw us dumped out of both domestic cup competitions, ending our chances of silverware this season, and failing to win any of our league games.

Bukayo Saka’s opener against Manchester City on New Year’s Day was also the only goal we scored in January, further highlighting our issues.

Having said that, several mitigating factors contributed to our poor form and the team very much needed this break.

It’s also allowed us to see some players return to the fold, with Nicolas Pepe rejoining the squad in recent days following his AFCON excursions.

Also, Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey will be available for our trip to Wolves in nine days having been unavailable due to suspension.

One player who has travelled with the squad but is still unable to train is Takehiro Tomiyasu who suffered a recurrence of a calf problem after being rushed back for the Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

The trip to Dubai ends this week with the squad flying back on Wednesday before continuing preparations at London Colney.

A behind-closed-doors friendly against Reading beckons for Arteta’s men when they return, according to the Daily Mail.
