Arsenal train ahead of Brentford clash…

Mikel Arteta put the boys through their paces ahead of the London derby against Brentford as we look to move six points behind league leaders Liverpool.

The match at the Gtech Stadium will mark the halfway mark of the Premier League campaign and should we clinch all three points, we’ll be one point off where we were at this stage last season.

Arteta looks to have received a fitness boost ahead of the game with Declan Rice pictured in training after the 25-year-old was substituted in the final minutes of the clash against Ipswich.

It wasn’t noted by the commentators at the time, but Rice indicated to the Gunners physio that he was feeling something in his calf while Martin Odegaard was being attended to following a hefty tackle on his ankle.

The England international was withdrawn minutes later for Thomas Partey as we aimed to see out a narrow win in the final minutes of the game.

Elsewhere, aside from the long-term injuries of Bukayo Saka, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu, the squad remains intact.

It will be interesting to see how Arteta uses the squad with two away games in three days with a physical encounter expected against Thomas Frank’s side.

Myles Lewis-Skelly has started three consecutive league games at left-back and may be due a rest with the likes of Riccardo Calafiori and Oleksandr Zinchenko now fit.

At right-back, Arteta may eye resting Jurrien Timber in favour of Partey for the added height the Ghanaian provides and use the squad in areas where we have a number of options.

Check the images above as the boys sharpen up ahead of the trip to West London.
