Arsene Wenger confirmed on Wednesday that Aaron Ramsey was back in training and has a chance of making the squad for the cup final on Sunday.
Ramsey has been out with a groin problem since his sensational hat-trick against Everton earlier this month, and Wenger’s recent update made for grim reading.
The boss didn’t seem to know when Ramsey would return, so his appearance at training this week was certainly a boost ahead of the Manchester City clash.
Before then, though, we still have to negotiate the second-leg of our Europa League last-32 tie, and Wenger has confirmed that Ramsey will not make that game.
“Ramsey is not in the squad for tomorrow. He had a good training session but he’s not available for tomorrow,” Wenger told the press ahead of the clash.
“We will see how his evolution goes between now and Sunday. I don’t rule him out.
“It depends how well he can improve the intensity of training.”
I for one hope Wenger does decide to rest a few players ahead of Sunday’s showpiece occasion, especially given Manchester City’s free week leading up to Sunday.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who’s cup-tied for the final, will no doubt start – and hopefully his one just a few first-team regulars.
