Ivan Gaizids will earn an extra £1m-per year at AC Milan…
Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis will increase his salary by approximately £1m per-year after announcing his move to AC Milan on Tuesday, The Times reports.
Gazidis, who was already one of the highest-paid chief executives in football, penned a lengthy letter to fans explaining his rather bizarre decision.
After ringing the changes in almost every area at the club, we got the impression that the former MLS chief was finally building the club in his image after a decade under Arsene Wenger.
However, with rumours rife since July that AC Milan’s new American owner saw Gazidis as a potential key clog in their organisation, Gazidis has finally confirmed the rumours.
He leaves behind him a healthy and stable club, and it was also announced that Raul Sanllehi and Vinai Venkatesham will form a new joint-role to replace Gazidis.
Sanllehi, who joined as head of football relations from Barcelona will now become head of football, while Vinai will continue working on the commercial department which he’s been a part of since 2010.
Gazidis’ reign at Arsenal will be looked at as a rather satisfactory period. Yes, he kept us stable financially and saw us through some difficult times, though it would be difficult to determine if our new-found financial clout is of his own making or due to the increase in TV and gate revenue.
