Jaap Stam praises Arsenal stars…
Reading boss Jaap Stam commended the effort his players showed against Arsenal in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night, but accepted that they were outdone by a more gifted set of players.
While Stam admits that Arsene Wenger fielded a weakened side in the cup tie, the former Manchester United defender believes that our entire club plays under one identity on the pitch.
An Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain brace settled the tie, and the Dutch legend wants his players to take heed from what they experienced at the Emirates Stadium.
“We need to learn from these games,” Stam stressed to Reading’s official YouTube channel.
“We can learn from how those players are sometimes a bit more clever than what we are in taking their positions on the pitch.”
Stam did encourage his team to play out from the back at every conceivable opportunity and looks like a coach who’s been heavily influenced by the infamous ‘Dutch way’.
