It’s a normal Saturday up at the Match of the Day headquarters in Salford, with Ian Wright and Jermaine Jenas watching the day’s action ahead of the flagship highlights show.

Unfortunately for Wrighty, our disappointing defeat at West Ham was the first order of the day and the former Arsenal striker wasn’t even watching when Declan Rice grabbed the eventual winner.

Thanks to Jenas, the former Newcastle United midfielder captured the moment Wrighty entered the room to found out that we had indeed gone 1-0 down in the London derby.

It was a miserable performance from the team and Unai Emery didn’t necessarily cover himself in any glory with some of his decisions.

Mainly, the odd call to leave Mesut Ozil out of the squad once again for a trip to West Ham without the adequate number of players to compensate for his absence.

It meant that our attacking options on the bench consisted of Aaron Ramsey – who’s set to leave – and 18-year-old Eddie Nketiah.

Our attacking play was dire, registering just two shots on target all afternoon. When you’re having an off day in front of goal, one hopes you can rely on the defence to keep a clean sheet but that’s been an anomaly for us all season.

Despite having a more assured display at the back, one lapse in concentration from Granit Xhaka gifted the ball to former Gunner Samir Nasri who laid the ball on for Rice to score.

It was a poor attempt at a clearance and it, once again, cost us all three points.
