Jorginho hands advice to Gunners star…

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has encouraged teammate Bukayo Saka to improve his aerial ability if he aims to become the best player in the world.

Speaking to Rio Ferdinand’s podcast, the midfield maestro stated that he personally has high hopes for Saka and wants him to one day be crowned the best in the world

Saka has already improved this campaign regarding goal contributions, with 15 in 13 games – he managed 25 in the entire Premier League campaign last season.

However, as gifted as he is, Jorginho feels the Hale End star is leaving many goals on the table due to his inability to attack the box when balls are being delivered from the flank.

The 23-year-old has only scored two headers in his Gunners career and it is an area of his game he realises he needs to improve. When asked recently if he could add a teammate’s skill to his own game, Saka was clear: “I want to be able to header like Gabriel Magalhaes!” (via Arsenal).

“Before he was going the left foot, going the left. Now he’s going the right foot,” Jorginho said when asked about Saka’s qualities.

“For me now, the thing he needs to go more now, it’s his hunger to get in the box when he’s on the weak side….I want to see headers from him, cross you from the left side.”

Being an aerial threat isn’t something that can be taught and is usually an inate quality that can often be harnessed. For all his majestic quality, Thierry Henry was quite poor in the air.

Instead of unlocking new areas, Saka can still master the qualities his does possess and do them more regularly – even if it means being selfish.

The England star’s soft-centred nature leads him to want to share the joy in an attacking sense, which causes him to look for a pass when he’s good enough to finish the action himself.

He’s also happy to pass penalties up for his teammates to add to their tallies. If Saka is to be the best, he should take every opportunity to bolster his attacking numbers.
