Josh Kroenke promises fans that signings are imminent…

Josh Kroenke, son of Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke, has promised fans that signings are imminent after a very quiet window and has encouraged us to “be excited” about the incoming announcements, he told Arsenal Player.

In an obvious response to the #WeCareDoYou campaign which called on the Kroenke family to rectify the malaise the club is currently in and prove they truly want to take the club back to its glory days.

It’s been a testing summer for us fans, reeling from the pathetic collapse in the Premier League last season as well as our no-show in the Europa League final, all we’ve heard in the close season is that we barely have any finances to sign players.

Meanwhile, clubs in the lower half of the table are breaking their transfer record and are set to spend close to £100m this window – something which has baffled fans.

Sitting down with the club’s in-house channel for what seemed like a scripted interview, Kroenke refused to mention the budget and instead said fans will be excited by what transpires in the window.

“I would say ‘be excited’”, Kroenke was quoted as saying.

“There are a few things that I know our group are working on, and a few things we hopefully have on the doorstep.

“Nothing is ever a done deal until it’s a done deal, obviously, but we know we have key areas we want to address in our squad, both now and in the future. Our entire football operations staff have a great grasp on that and I’ve encouraged them to be as aggressive as possible.”

Those are big words from the owners and given that this is their first appearance on camera for an interview, those words could come back to haunt him if we don’t see action in the next three weeks.

Time to go to work.
