Arsenal’s Kai Havertz reveals his frustrations…

Arsenal midfielder Kai Havertz left Villa Park frustrated after we succumbed to a 1-0 defeat with the German international feeling the result was undeserved.

Havertz, who arguably had his best display in an Arsenal shirt, though he’d rescued a point for his side after bundling the ball over the line on the back post.

However, referee Jarred Gillett immediately blew his whistle to rule the goal out for handball – an impressive call given that he was 20 yards away and apparently saw the incident through a melee of players.

VAR spent minutes checking the incident before going with the referee’s decision, though there is an argument to suggest that if he hadn’t made that call, there wasn’t sufficient evidence to overturn it.

Gabriel Jesus also had a penalty shout waved away in an incident identical to the one awarded to Crystal Palace against Liverpool in the early kick-off.

Aside from the officiating, we still had enough chances to win the game, with our clearest opportunities falling to Martin Odegaard who finished poorly on both occasions.

“Tough one to take, thought we deserved more,” Havertz posted on X.

“Now onto Tuesday. Thank you as always for the support!”

Havertz may be looking forward to Tuesday, but he shouldn’t even be allowed to enter the pitch with our position as group winners already secured.

Arteta must give the important players a much-needed breather ahead of the clash against Brighton next weekend.
