Kieran Tierney: I Arrived Injured, Yet Arsenal Fans Still Showed Me Love

Kieran Tierney cherishes his relationship with Arsenal fans…

Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney stated that his relationship with the Gunners faithful is one that was formed immediately and admitted he was taken aback by the welcome he received, the 24-year-old told Arsenal.com.

Tierney arrived in the summer of 2019 from Celtic for a fee in the region of £25million after what was a protracted process, though he wasn’t able to don the Arsenal shirt immediately.

The Scottish international underwent surgery during that summer to cure a long-term groin problem, eventually making his debut in September during a Carabao Cup tie.

It was during this period that Tierney felt the unwavering support from the Arsenal fans and the defender stressed that those moments were crucial for him.

“One hundred per cent,” Tierney said when asked if he’s surprised by the love shown to him by the fans.

“The Arsenal fans, ever since I came here, have been amazing.

“I was injured when I came so for them to show love to an injured player, who they probably didn’t know much about, speaks volumes for how good a set of fans that is.

“They could have been questioning why we signed someone who is injured, but the support they showed me gave me so much confidence, and then eventually when I made my debut, the reception I got was incredible. The feeling that gave me was amazing,” Tierney added.

The affection for Tierney has only grown ever since with fans now of the mind that he’s best placed to take up the position of club captain once Mikel Arteta makes a permanent appointment this summer

One of the first names on Arteta’s teamsheet, Tierney’s role will be crucial in our bid to return to Champions League football next season.
