La Liga Star’s Agent In London For Arsenal Talks – Report

Unai Emery has been linked with his former midfield general Ever Banega in January…

According to reports in Spain, Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega’s agent is in London for talks with Arsenal as the club looks to activate his €20m release clause in January, LaSexta reports.

Banega enjoyed two successful spells under Emery in Spain and the two are fond of each other, with the Gunners boss said to have proposed a move last summer.

The Argentine playmaker was part of the Valencia team which delivered three, consecutive third-place finishes in La Liga, cementing themselves as the ‘best of the rest’ in Spain.

They reconvened at Sevilla years later and Banega was instrumental in the team that lifted two Europa League titles, while Emery lifted an extra one during the 30-year-old’s loan spell at Inter.

His release clause makes any move extremely viable as it would only need Banega to give us the nod, and his parent club couldn’t do anything to prevent the move.

Also, if Aaron Ramsey heads for the exit door six months earlier than expected, the Welshman would need replacing.

However, as it was reported last summer, it seems Banega is settled in Spain and one wonders if he has the desire to make such a move so late in his career.

Emery played a 4-3-3 system throughout his time in Paris and if wants to do that here, adding a central-midfielder who embodies everything he wants in a midfield general would make a whole heap of sense.

Let’s see if the board back this move, given that it would mean yet another player added to the squad without age on his side.
