Lee Dixon fears for Wenger’s future after Bayern defeat…

Arsenal legend Lee Dixon believes that Arsene Wenger’s tenure at the Emirates Stadium may be coming to an end after our humiliation defeat to Bayern Munich.

A night widely regarded as arguably the most damaging to Wenger given the limbo he’s in contractually, Dixon fears for his former manager’s mind state.

The pressure from our fans has been constant ever since his last contract extension in 2014, a deal many felt was one contract too far.

Having practically throwing our title chances away in the space of a week after back-to-back defeats to Chelsea and Watford, Dixon can see no way back for the boss.

“It saddens me to see him like that, I know what a winner he is,” our former right-back said on ITV.

“That level is not good enough, the team are bereft [of ideas].

“I look at that team and I see a nice team – that’s not what wins you championships. I think he realises, he seems so low. This team is getting no response from him.

“It is he who will pull the rug from under his own turf. I think he thinks it’s time [to go]. I’ve never seen him like that before.”

It now seems clear that the FA Cup is once again our only hope of silverware this season, though it’s difficult to see that competition masking the disaster we’re currently experiencing.
