Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has asked to leave the club this summer amid reported interest from Italian giants AC Milan, according to Italian reporter Alfredo Pedulla.

Torreira joined the club from Sampdoria last summer and after starting off to a flyer, the 23-year-old faded in the second half of the campaign.

Given that the Uruguayan international was used to an international break during the winter, it seemed as though the intense domestic schedule took its toll on him.

However, after serving a three-match ban which saw him out for more than a month due to the international break, Torreira returned rejuvenated for the run-in.

Having said that, the former Serie A star couldn’t prevent us from dropping out of the top four or losing the Europa League final, and it now seems as though Torreira is seeking a move back to Italy.

According to Alfredo Pedulla, Torreira has informed the club of his desire to leave and has left the rest up to his agent while he competes in the Copa America.

The reasons as to why Torreira wants to leave haven’t been reported, though there have been rumours that the midfielder’s partner is feeling homesick and wants to return to Italy.

Torreira reportedly arrived last summer for a fee in the region of £26m and one would imagine that it would take double that figure for the club to even contemplate selling him.
