Luton boss Rob Edwards describes Tuesday’s test…
Luton manager Rob Edwards has admitted that his side are under no illusions as to the huge task facing them on Tuesday as league leaders Arsenal visit Kenilworth Road, HaytersTV reports.
The newly promoted side host Mikel Arteta’s men following a slight upturn in form at home in the Premier League, beating Crystal Palace and drawing to Liverpool in recent weeks.
It has taken Luton out of the relegation zone – slightly aided by the 10-point penalty handed to Everton last month as a punishment for breaking financial fair play rules.
Arsenal have been ruthless against the promoted sides so far this term, thrashing Sheffield United 5-0 before a comfortable 3-1 win against Vincent Kompany’s Burnley.
However, a new challenge presents itself with an away trip to a vibrant ground, an atmosphere that will mirror a third-round FA Cup tie.
Having said that, Edwards understands that his side are coming up against a complete side.
“(Arsenal have) brought in more top, top players. They’re very strong in all aspects,” Edwards said in his pre-match press conference.
“They can control the game, they give very little chances away. The set-pieces are strong, they’re quick, they’re big and technically good…all the best!
“They’re well coached, yeah. It’s a hard game but we all know that. But like every team, they’re going to give some spaces away, they’re going to give something away – they have to.”
Controlling the transitions will be the aim of the day for the team, something that we’ve been much better at this season thanks to the presence of Declan Rice and Kai Havertz.
The aforementioned duo are rapid across the ground and often stop attacks from developing very far from our goal, giving the likes of William Saliba and Gabriel less to do.
