Man City’s Rico Lewis previews Sunday’s clash…
Manchester City teenager Rico Lewis is anticipating a much stronger Arsenal in Sunday’s Premier League clash following last season’s collapse in the title race, The Guardian reports.
Lewis, a versatile player who’s become a favourite of Pep Guardiola, has warned that his teammates are looking to secure a statement win and signal their intent to retain their thrown.
One point separates last season’s title challengers and following last week’s defeat at Wolves, Mikel Arteta’s men have the opportunity to go top of the Premier League ahead of the international break.
Lewis and company warmed up for the mouthwatering clash with a midweek Champions League win at RB Leipzig, while we’re looking to bounce back following a poor showing in Lens.
“I think they will definitely have been hurt after that,” the 18-year-old said about last season’s finish to the Premier League title race.
“They did so well last season and unfortunately for them they didn’t come away with the prize but it’s going to push them to be even better, which obviously pushes us.
“It’s a way we can put a stamp on the season and really make sure the rest of the league knows we’re aiming to do the same as last season,” the versatile star added.
We finished five points behind Guardiola’s men when it was all said and done and while many went into lengthy post-mortems on where it went wrong, the league was essentially decided in our head-to-head games.
Man City secured wins in both games which were eventually worth 12 points in total – the six they gained and the six they prevented us from obtaining.
It’s imperative that we reverse that this time around and win our home game.
