Marseille are confident of landing Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud this summer amid a huge spending spree for the French side, SkySportsNewsHQ reports.
Having been taken over by a rich American businessman, it seems the Ligue 1 side are intent on reclaiming their position at the pinnacle of French football.
Giroud recently extended his contract which was set to expire in 2018 by another two years, according to the report, though a move is not off the cards.
The 30-year-old is no longer an automatic first-choice at the club given Alexis Sanchez’s shift to a centre-forward role, while calls for us to sign another striker persist.
Also, next season is a World Cup year which usually leads to players across the globe even more anxious to play consistent first-team football in order to guarantee a spot on the plane for their respective national squads.
SkySportsNewsHQ claims Marseille are willing to pay £20million for Giroud, a figure which would give us a profit on the player despite its modest nature compared to prices we’re used to in the current market.
Giroud has been a great servant for Arsenal Football Club since his arrival in 2012 and has produced levels which exceed what many would expect from a £12m striker.
Should we move Giroud on or does he still offer something to the team?
