Martin Keown feels Arsenal are not ready for Wenger to depart…

Arsenal stalwart Martin Keown feels we’re not ready for Arsene Wenger to leave the club this summer given how much of the day-to-work depends on him.

Keown feels like Wenger is such an establishment at the club, that it would probably take two years for the club to sort out a respectable succession plan.

The boss’ contract expires this summer and there seems little enthusiasm from the club and Wenger to hasten an announcement.

In Keown’s mind, the board are in now way ready to make such a monumental decision in the club’s history, especially with the mistakes made at Manchester United still fresh in everyone’s mind.

“I do feel if he was to go now without any succession plan management from the club, it would be too soon,” Keown said on Match of the Day 3.

“I don’t think the board are ready yet, or this club is ready, for him to leave. There is a lot of thinking that needs to be done at a high level.

“Yes, that end is coming, but maybe another contract of one year or two years, and Wenger should be made to be a part of the manager who comes in.”

Given how close he is to the club, Keown may well be predicting the future.
