Arsenal playmaker Martin Odegaard is delighted with life at the club and genuinely believes that “something special” is happening under Mikel Arteta’s tutelage, BT reports.
Odegaard, after spending the second half of last season on loan from Real Madrid, was one of Arteta’s main targets ahead of the new campaign.
The boss was adamant that the Norwegian skipper was his man, and it needed some patience from the club’s recruitment team before the dominos fell and the 23-year-old returned to the Emirates.
Despite the doubts that surrounded the move, Arteta has been proven right once again with Odegaard becoming one of the best creative players in the league this season.
The former Real Madrid man has also taken the manager’s constructive criticism on board and added goals to his game, scoring five in the Premier League this term.
For Odegaard, the camaraderie in the dressing room is something he’s yet to witness in football, as a young team attempts to get us back to the pinnacle of football.
“He gives a lot of trust to the young players and I think for him, the most important thing is what you do and not your age,” Odegaard said about Arteta man-management.
“So of course, that was also important to me and especially how we want to play and I think that the way he wants to play football is good for me.”
Arteta has constantly referred to the need to create a uniform culture at the club, one that everyone can refer back to at times of turbulence.
Odegaard has certainly bought into that and spoke glowingly about the common goal which resonates around London Colney.
“The togetherness is something special here, I’ve never seen something like this in my football career and there’s a lot of competition but still people just want the best for the team.
“We always want the team to win and the team spirit is really good and I think the connection we have off the pitch as well helps us on the pitch.
“It is definitely something special going on here and I feel like everyone really wants to get the club back up to the top, so that’s the feeling behind it,” he added.
