Juventus boss Max Allegri poured cold water on rumours that he’s set to leave Italy for England this summer after the Old Lady’s win against Spurs in the Champions League.
After being held to a 2-2 draw at home last month, the north London side were definitely the favourites heading into the second-leg, but last season’s runners-up showed their experience and pulled off a sensational win at Wembley.
Allegri’s reputation was also enhanced following the game given how he tactically affected the encounter, switching formations at half-time with a couple of substitutions which seemed to dumbfound Spurs.
The Italian champions managed to score two goals in a matter of minutes to catch the hosts cold, and their rearguard held on to secure yet another quarter-final berth.
Speaking to Viasport after the game, Allegri was asked if his improving English meant that he was anticipating an imminent move across the channel, the former Milan boss halted such theories.
“No, because I have a contract until 2020.”
According to the Mirror, Allegri is on a four-man shortlist to potentially replace Wenger this summer with rumours circulating that the Frenchman’s 22-year reign will end at the end of the season.
