It was Mesut Ozil’s day as we came back from a goal down to win 3-1 against Leicester City to extend our winning run to 10 in all competitions.

The visitors took the like under fortuitous circumstances after Ben Chilwell’s cross deflected off Hector Bellerin and trickled past Bernd Leno who’d already committed to the interception.

It’s no less than they deserved, mind, as they continued to force us into mistakes with their high press and further heighten the scope on our first-half displays.

However, just as it seemed we’d be heading into the break a goal down for only the second time this season, our skipper for the day latched on to Bellerin’s cut-back to guide the ball home.

It was a sumptuous finish though it wasn’t to be the most elegant piece of skill he’d accomplish by the end of the game.

The second-half started and it was all us, we’d obviously become accustomed to their 3-4-3 system and Claud Puel’s men were now pinned back.

Thus, with 10 men behind the ball and camped outside their penalty area, Ozil somehow slide one pass through the defence to the onrushing Bellerin, and his cross found Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to smash the ball home. It all came from the German.

And, minutes later, our No.10 stunned the stadium once again. Receiving the ball from Torreira midway inside Leicester’s half, Ozil flicked the ball first-time to Matteo Guendouzi to start yet another breathtaking counter-attack.

Guendouzi found Bellerin wide and instead of charging towards the byline, the right-back saw Ozil darting just outside the area and rolled the ball into him.

And, with Harry Maguire getting ready to smash through him, Ozil somehow realised Alexandre Lacazette was lurking behind him decided to dummy the ball and spin past the England defender.

Lacazette returned the ball instantly and Ozil found himself one-on-one with Schmeichel. Any other normal player attempts to slide the ball home – but Ozil is far from normal.

He once again somehow saw a teammate approaching at the far post and decided to clip the ball with the outside of his foot, giving Aubameyang the easy task of tapping the ball into an empty net. Ozil had bamboozled Leicester.

Reacting to the praise he received, Ozil took to his social media and wrote: “I think we played some sexy football tonight. Proud captain of this team and this club!”

We’re proud to have you, Mesut!
