Arsenal Albums, Mesut Ozil reflects…

Mesut Ozil is the latest player to take a trip down memory lane with ‘Arsenal Albums’ as the 28-year-old reflected on how his Arsenal move came about in 2013.

On a day which will forever be etched in our memories as Arsenal fans, Ozil reveals that his relationship with Arsene Wenger started in 2010.

Wenger wanted to sign the German after the World Cup in South Africa, with the two having intense dialogue which ended with Ozil promising the boss that if he ever left Real Madrid, Arsenal would be his first point of call.

“When I moved to Real Madrid, I spoke with Wenger,” Ozil told Arsenal Player.

“He wanted me to move to Arsenal. I said ‘believe me, in the future if I have the opportunity to change clubs, you will be the first address for me’.”

And so it happened, Gareth Bale joined the Spanish giants and Ozil made the trip down to north London, 24 hours after we defeated Spurs in the north London derby.

Hailed as the Dennis Bergkamp of this era, Ozil is certainly starting to deliver on that title.
