Arteta has one year remaining on his deal…

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta remains calm about his future amid talks to extend his contract with the Spaniard indicating that he doesn’t foresee any issues in those talks, he told ESPN.

Arteta, who’s currently in Marbella with a few members of the first-team squad as they sharpen their fitness ahead of flying to America for our pre-season tour, only has a year remaining on his current deal.

The 42-year-old told ESPN about his love for the club and how the focus remains to get Arsenal back to the pinnacle of football, irrespective of the current expiry date in his contract.

The Spaniard insisted that those talks will take care of themselves, and stressed that speculation about his future will not be a distraction given his commitment to the cause.

Considering how important Arteta is to the Arsenal project and the power he’s been handed by the owners, you can’t predict a scenario that will see him walk way on his terms in the near future.

After working through some tough times to guide us to the position we’re in, Arteta will undoubtedly like to complete the journey by delivering the biggest trophies.

“No, there is no update at the moment,” Arteta said.

“The thing that hasn’t changed is how happy I am and how valued I feel here and how much I love representing this club.

“Things happen in a natural way and our relationship is that good that I don’t predict any issues happening. But things have to develop in the right way and it will happen,” the former Gunners skipper added when asked the situation will be resolved this summer.

After leading us to 84 and 89-point finishes in the Premier League respectively, Arteta has only been prevented from back-to-back titles by his mentor Pep Guardiola.

With the Man Ciy boss looking like his tenure will end next summer, Arteta will cement himself as the dominant manager in the country if he can rip the crown from the champions.
