“We Can Go To Chelsea And Win” – Mikel Arteta Buoyed By Gunners Display Despite Inter Defeat

Arteta happy with San Siro display…

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has stated that his team will go to Stamford Bridge to win the game despite yet another defeat away from home, our third in four games.

A dubious penalty handed Inter all three points in the Champions League in an encounter Arsenal largely dominated without making the hosts’ goalkeeper work too much.

Despite registering 20 shots at goal, only four were on target with two of those efforts blocked by defenders with the ball heading for the back of the net.

While our attempts at goal may not have been enough, it’s difficult to criticise the team given that they limited the Serie A champions to just one shot on target.

Arteta has therefore refused to delve too much into the San Siro affair and believes that if his team can replicate that performance in west London on Sunday, we will have a great chance to stop the rot.

“With the manner of situation, chances that we generated, we should have scored a couple of goals at least and that’s on us,” the Spaniard said in his post-match interview with TNT Sports.

“The way the team played, that was us tonight. Level of energy, level of quality, how we arrive in the box, how we dominated a team that’s one of the best in Europe. In their stadium, very proud.

“It was decided in the boxes which is the Champions League and every decision in the box makes a difference, it’s clear.

“We’re looking forward to it,” Arteta added when asked about the trip to Chelsea.

“The team responds like that, plays the way we played tonight here, we can go to Chelsea and we can win.”

Too many times during Arteta’s reign do these negative results come in clusters that we can’t seem to immedtiately rectify and put to a halt.

Last season, our poor form during the festive period ultimately cost us as we lost to West Ham and Fulham in a matter of days, while we subsequently crashed out of the FA Cup to Liverpool.

That poor form conveniently proceeded a winter break, allowing the team to take stock and recover to their usual form after two weeks in Dubai.

Now, it seems the squad desperately needs the international break to come, though a big game that will determine our chances of becoming champions must take place first.
