The Mirror’s John Cross: Arsenal Should Make Shock Move For John Terry

By The Editor

Arsenal should target John Terry, John Cross says…

After John Terry announced his impending exit from Chelsea, it was almost inevitable that someone would suggest that Arsene Wenger enquiries about the former England skipper.

Low and behold, the Mirror’s chief sports writer John Cross is that man. Speaking on the Football Writers Podcast, Cross claimed that we should be seriously looking to add Terry to our squad given our defensive frailties.

After listing his qualities and the fact that Chelsea may be letting the 36-year-old go too soon, the journalist is of the opinion that Terry is an upgrade on a number of our defenders.

“He could play in a top six team, in my view,” John Cross argues.

“As you say, Gabriel sometimes looks as if he’s a fan who’s won a competition to play for Arsenal, Terry would be better.”

Signing cast-offs from our rivals will never improve our squad. If Terry was still such an impressive defender, Chelsea would’ve given him a new deal.

Rather than add such a short-term solution, we should be fighting with Chelsea and our other rivals for the top defenders around the world.

Funnily enough, John Cross has reported that we’re attempting to ‘hijack’ Chelsea’s move for Dutch defender Virgil Van Dijk (the Mirror), a move that seems more understandable to us fans.

Check out the video above as the journalists discuss our defensive situation.
