MLS All-Stars vs Arsenal: Wenger address media ahead of the clash…
Arsene Wenger spoke to the media in San Jose ahead of our highly anticipated friendly against an MLS All-Star side set to include the likes of Kaka, Pirlo and Didier Drogba.
However, much of the focus was on the internal issue at the club with Per Mertesacker undergoing knee surgery which will keep him out for a significant part of next season.
Wenger admitted that a defender is now a priority as well as a striker, on a day in which Lyon released a statement confirming that they’ve turned down a bid from us for Alexandre Lacazette.
As many would’ve expected, the Frenchman refused to comment on that particular story and instead regurgitated his familiar quote on transfers: “If we sign somebody, we will announce it. I cannot tell you much more than that.”
A familiar pattern seems to be emerging at Arsenal during each summer and one hopes that for once, we don’t enter a season in a weaker state than we finished the previous one.
