Arsenal boss simplifies Sunday’s match to end meek run…

Arsenal head coach Unai Emery said the order of the day on Sunday is to win to create a little distance between us and Bournemouth, especially after three consecutive draws.

Speaking reporters ahead of the trip to the south coast fresh from an international break, Emery admitted that a little gap was developing between ourselves and the teams above us.

Currently sitting in fifth place, we are three points behind Spurs in fourth place and four points behind Chelsea in fourth place – though those two London sides do battle on Saturday.

Therefore, a win against Eddie Howe’s side will narrow the gap between us and our London rivals, and it will also create a distance from the teams chasing us.

“But football is the next match,” Emery told reporters (via Hayters TV).

“Now, we are fifth. We are going to play against sixth and we are at not a small distance with the third and fourth position.

“We need to win on Sunday.”

Picking up three points at the Vitality Stadium has alluded us in recent years, with Cherries often proving to be such stern opposition.

Our last win there came in 2016, with Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain grabbing two quickfire goals in a 2-0 win. However, since then, it hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for us.

The following season, we had to claw back from three goals down to draw 3-3, though the result was still seen as a disaster given the ramifications.

Also, Bournemouth were one of many teams to beat us on their own patch in the Premier League last term. Emery and the boys certainly have their work cut out to change our fortunes.
