Neymar looks back fondly on his time under Unai Emery’s guidance as Emirates friendly looms…

Ahead of Brazil’s friendly against Uruguay at the Emirates Stadium, Neymar looked back fondly on his season under Unai Emery’s tutelage in which they won every domestic trophy available to them, ESPN reports.

Neymar and Kylian MbappĂ© were brought in by the president Nasser El Khelafi during the summer ahead of Emery’s second season in charge of Paris Saint-Germain.

It became a welcome gift, but fitting those superstars into a dressing room can be difficult, especially if your one target is to deliver the Champions League.

Many felt Emery was too timid among those big characters, indeed the Spaniard himself said he had to compromise on certain ideas to suit the likes of the Brazilian.

However, for Neymar, their relationship was good and he’s backed the former Sevilla man to deliver for us.

“Arsenal are playing really great football. They are coming from a great run in recent matches and everybody knows he’s a really great coach,” the superstar said.

“I was really happy to work with him because he’s a really hard-working guy.

“He really wanted to coach us and really wanted to study about football. I think he will bring good things for Arsenal, which is a really huge and important club here in England. I wish him luck.”

Emery’s stock diminished in the eyes of the public following his stint in France, simply because he didn’t deliver the Champions League.

It’s a rather silly metric to judge a manager, especially when you consider that Pep Guardiola failed to win the European Cup in his three years at Bayern.

Emery’s time in Spain was a huge success and it resembles a similar task to what he faces at Arsenal. For example, he secured three consecutive third-place finishes with Valencia – that would be a huge feat this season.
