Nigel Winterburn dreams of Arsenal signing Jack Grealish this summer…

Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn hopes the club goes “all in” for Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish this summer and believes the 25-year-old can cure our creativity problem, he told GentingBet.

Grealish has taken his game to another level since Villa’s promotion to the Premier League last season and after he captained them to safety, Dean Smith’s men have been flying this term.

The Aston Villa skipper seems a shoo-in for the England squad in the upcoming European Champions and is statistically one of the best creative midfielders in the league.

Creating chances was a huge issue for the majority of the campaign and while we’ve found a short-term solution in the shape of Martin Odegaard, we need to address that area in the summer.

“I’d like to see Arsenal go ‘all in’ and sign Jack Grealish,” Winterburn said.

“He is a terrific player. His ability speaks for itself and he’s the type of player that if we want to move forward then we should be looking to buy.”

Regarding where Winterburn could see Grealish fitting into Mikel Arteta’s set-up, he added: “He tends to prefer to play on the left-hand side so we’d need to see how that works with Arsenal’s current set up but I’m sure he could play in that Number 10 role as well.

“Lots is up in the air with Arsenal, they’re not sure if Odegaard will sign in the long term and that needs to be addressed beforehand.

“One thing is for sure, if Grealish does become available then a whole host of clubs will be in for him.”

Grealish is a top-class player and one who would certainly be of interest to Arteta, but we would certainly need to secure Champions League football to have any hope of landing him.

Financially, the club is going through a tough period and with Grealish on a long-term contract, it would take a significant financial package to prize him away from Villa Park.
