Olivier Giroud is a fan of Mikel Arteta…
Former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has heaped praise on Mikel Arteta and stated that he hopes the Spaniard has a long stay as Gunners boss; matching Arsene Wenger’s tenure.
Arteta is entering the final year of his contract and while there remains a belief that he will extend his stay, he’s already been at the club for five years.
The 42-year-old has won one FA Cup and two Community Shields during his tenure – though the Premier League crown has alluded him over the past two seasons.
Given his age and freshness, Arsenal fans expect the former Gunners skipper to lead a dynasty at the club and have the trophy cabinet that matches his ability as a coach.
“I’m very happy for them, because Arteta is doing a great job. He had the time to build and to set up his ideas,” Giroud told Sky Sports.
“He is a great manager I think, and hopefully he will stay as many years as Arsene (Wenger) stayed with them, I wish them the best.”
Giroud and Arteta spent four seasons together in north London and it’s no surprise to hear how highly the Frenchman regards his former captain.
While the days of managers replicating Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson’s reigns, Arteta still has some goals to accomplish to complete the ‘process’ he began in 2019.
